Beyond the Shelf - Old Book Illustrations

Just because we're grown ups, doesn't mean we don't appreciate illustrations in books. At the very least we will love a great book cover. Of course illustrations won't work for every book, but I always loved them in fairy tales. So I decided to do a bit of research of book illustrations and came across a real neat website - Old Book Illustrations.

This site is dedicated to providing you with a wide range of illustrations scanned from old books. Most of these vintage pictures are originally wood engravings or woodcuts, fewer are etchings or metal engravings; visitors looking for nineteenth century or victorian clipart will find quite a number of beautiful illustrations here. Galleries include animals, plants, landscapes, characters, ornaments, and many other categories. And of course you can search by keywords too.
As all uploaded illustrations belong to the public domain you can use them for personal and commercial purposes. Or you may just enjoy looking at them.

By the way, in case you want to get your daily dosage feel free to follow the OBI Scrapbook Blog. And for those who seriously can't get enough of the beautiful illustrations, you can even buy yourself a print, mug or shirt in the shop. Very tempting if you ask me!
