Beyond the Shelf - Writer Unboxed

I follow many blogs and websites, but some I will frequent more often than others. One that I really love is Writer Unboxed, which is "about the craft and business of fiction". It all began as a collaboration between aspiring novelists Therese Walsh and Kathleen Bolton in 2006. After receiving rejections for articles, they decided to create their own forum where they could broadcast their observations on book-related topics. Today the website includes contributors who are bestselling authors and industry leaders, and it's no big surprise that it’s grown into such a rich community for writers over the years.

While the site is dedicated to writing, thus mostly aimed at fellow writers, it is also a great way for readers to catch a glimpse into the minds of authors and what's happening behind the scenes of the book writing and publishing industry. You'll find articles by authors, interviews of people in the industry, and much more. Monthly contributors are authors like Ann Aguirre, Debbie Ohi, and John Vorhaus, to name but a few. And interviews include well known authors such as Cornelia Funke, Diana Gabaldon, and Tess Gerritsen.

Trust me when I say that this is the place every writer should stick their nose into every now and again. A wonderful source for tips and tricks, contemplative insights, or humorous reflections. Columns and articles are as diverse as the writer's contributing and not a week goes by that I won't find a handful of truely interesting posts here, like When a character won't cooperate or Scamming the writer's life or A cautionary comic for writers ...
