What is a giveaway hop? That's simple. Each participating blog hosts a giveaway and then we link up together allowing our followers to hop easily from one giveaway to another. For followers this means lots of chances to win free books and other goodies. For blogs hosting a giveaway it means lots of new visitors and followers. It's a win-win!
And now …
… curious about what you can win?
… curious about what you can win?
Once again I'm getting a bit more creative than simple giving away a book. Seeing how this Hop is dedicated to dreaming what could be more appropriate than a pillow on which you can rest your head while reading (or sleeping, for that matter). Long story short - I'm giving away your choice of any bookish Throw Pillow worth $ 20,00 from CafePress. These pillows measure 18'' x 18'' and are made of ultra-soft brushed twill with a sturdy canvas image area.
All you have to do is answer the following question and leave your e-mail address with your comment so I may contact you in case you're the winner.
The question:

One winner will be picked through random.org on January 19th and will then be contacted by e-mail as well as announced here on my blog. The winner will have 48 hours to respond and if he/she fails to do so I will draw a new winner.
And now, head on over to the rest of the blog hop participants!

Long ones.
ReplyDelete. . .See that's meant to be a joke because if they were short I wouldn't need to stay up reading them. But honestly, I get lost in books really easily and have spent many a night when I SHOULD have been sleeping for various reasons, predominantly the need to get up early the next day, instead finishing a book. Though series in particular keep me up, because I usually get more involved in the characters lives.
Thanks for the giveaway!! Those pillows seem pretty awesome.
jessicamariesutton(at)msn(dot)com
Your giveaways are so fun, Birgit! When I read your question, the first answer that popped into my head was SCARY ONES! Of course, I don't read too many scary ones, but if I do, I try not to read them when it's dark lol. But other books that keep me up at night are just the really good ones that I just can't put down for something so ordinary as SLEEP. :)
ReplyDeleteamberr610[at]gmail[dot]com

ReplyDeletelizzyam213 (at) hotmail (dot) com
Oh, for me it's those girly fantasy ones! The high fantasy doorstoppers I can stop, but things like Emily Gee's books captivate me until 4am and then I have to struggle through the next day in zombie mode!!!

rikki at rikkidonovan.com
If they're long with huge cliffhangers I usually can't stop myself :P Or if they're super scary or creepy, then I can't sleep.

Honestly, I can never sleep after I finish a book. It doesn't matter what kind of book it is but I stay up thinking about what would be happening to the characters now.

Thanks for this giveaway btw!
Wow, what a fabulous giveaway! I'll have to get me one of those pillows, for my friends too :)
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question. Definitely paranormal fantasy, ya novels... The last one keeping me up way toooooooo long was the Gathering by Kelley Armstrong, I really needed to know how it ended! I was mad I can't read the sequel for a while... No use to mention my workmates weren't happy with me the next day LOL
shera@gmx.at
This is an interesting question. I don't have a specific genre that keeps me up at night reading but I would say books where there are no dull patches keep me reading late.
ReplyDeleteAlso sometimes books that I don't like very much keep me reading because I want to finish them otherwise I spend hours thinking about them.
everythingtodowithbooks@gmail.com
For me the answer to that question is any book that I've been waiting for a long time to get. I remember when the last Harry Potter book came out, I bought it on the first day, read it all through the day and throughout the night. Literally, non stop I just loved it so much. I've done the same to the Mortal Instruments series too lol
ReplyDeletem-hussein at hotmail dot co dot uk
I would say books like the stand by stephen king, (I was working with the federal goverment on pandemic planning. I kid you not, a high up general, said he had a cover planned to call it anthrax. That one still keeps me up at night) The road by cormac maccarthy is another one that bothers me.
ReplyDeletetwoofakind12@yahoo.com
The kind of books that keep me up at night are the ones that I can't put down! The last two books that kept me up at night (reading them) were Cinder by Marissa Meyer and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Yes, they are fairly far apart, time-wise, but I love my sleep.
ReplyDeletepherlaithiel (at) gmail (dot) com
If a book is part of a series I absolutely love I will read nonstop even if it keeps me up all night. Mostly paranormal.

YA books make me stay up late in bed reading, especially if they are dystopian! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeletexxsquigglesxx(at)gmail(dot)com
Well, anything that's scary will keep me from being able to sleep thanks to an overactive imagination -- hence the reason I tend to stay away from them!

ReplyDeleteEmail: puieread@yahoo.com
Long books. I don't mind if's a series, but I like to have a real ending :) So those never-ending series (Anita Blake?) are not for me. I read romance, crime, ya, adult, mistery, sci-fi....basically anything as long the story and the writing is good :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway!

ReplyDeleteWhat kind of books keep me up at night?
Dystopian books with enough truth to them to make them plausible. Hunger Games, Life as We Knew It, etc.. These books feed my conspiracy theory obsession and freakish nature.

I dont read horror because I spend most of the night hiding under the cover afterward... I really cant read them I get to into it and it becomes to real. (yup im a dork)
ReplyDeletemegnate at telus dot net
Horror. I used to hide under the covers until I read a story about a monster from underneath the bedspreads. Now I read the stories then spend the rest of the night cowering in one corner of the bed, bloodshot eyes fixed on the suspiciously lumpy sheets ...
ReplyDeleteTis a terrible thing ...

ReplyDeleteilovebooksblog(at)gmail(dot)com
There are many different types of books that can keep me up at night, but these don't really follow any particular pattern. If it's a particularly good book, then I will have to fight with myself to go to sleep and not stay up all night reading. This has happened quite a lot recently. Particularly with Gail Carriger's Soulless and Michelle Hodkin's The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer.
ReplyDeleteHowever, there is one book that has given me nightmares. That is The Rapture by Liz Jensen! I was terrified by the ending of this book!
Thanks for the giveaway - this is the best one I've seen so far!
