Tea & Books Reading Challenge

How time flies by when you're having fun reading ... two months have already passed which means, depending on the level you picked, you might want to pick up a little more speed. I already read my first chunkster - The Passage (Justin Cronin) - back in January, but didn't get around to start the next one yet. Still, I very much hope that I'll finish Under The Dome (Stephen King) this month so I don't fall too far behind with the total of six books I want to tackle. One book every other month should be doable after all.

Some of you have already started on their chosen books for the challenge, or so I hope, and one of you deserves a special round of applause. Geoff Whaley has already read his third book! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, his third book! Now that's the spirit! His secret? Geoff decided to read a series (Game of Thrones, to be exact) and obviously got so enthralled in it that he just couldn't stop. Basically this means, he's half way through the challenge ... come to think of it, maybe I can coax him into upgrading to the next level *cough*.

Anyway, no matter whether you settled for Chamomile Lover (two books), or aim high and went for the Sencha Connoisseur (eight or more books) feel free to share the progress you've made. In case the only thing that progressed was that panic when you read this post, well, rest assured, you're not the only one who's challenged by this challenge (so to say).

  1. It's funny, since I just started reading the first book of the challenge "The Museum of Innocence" and I really like it. My goal is to finish it this month, and then leave Murakami for the summer :)

  2. Now I'm blushing! Thanks for the shout out. I was waiting for the March post to update that I just finished the 4th book of the challenge. I've no doubts I'll bump up to the next level at some point. My reading list only seems to get longer each month!

    1. While you're blushing, I get kinda pale ... book four!? I better get a move on then! I mean, what kind of challenge host am I if I fall behind?

    2. Well, just finished book 5 and I need a break. Definitely plan on upgrading though - so I'll keep an eye out for the next update.

    3. Have I mentioned yet that your commitment to this challenge is impressing? Guess I did, but anyway, needed to say it again. And I guess with "only" one more book to go for your current level a break is well deserved.
I have finally gotten started on my *cough* second tome "Under the Dome" (hey, that rhymes). I plan to post updates always on the first Sunday each month and the next one will be posted on April 1st. No joke.

  3. So this is what I did for the challenge so far:
    1. I got books from the library that count for the challenge (or had them at home already).
    2. I started reading them.
    3. I got distracted by another book that was more intresting.
    4. I read the other book.
    5. I had to return the Library Books again.
    6. Will start with 1. again soon :)

    1. Hahaha, you crack me up!
I guess in the long run, with those chunksters being quite intimidating at times, it's easier if you already own them, because with the library and all, well, you went through that cycle already ...

  4. I signed up (just recently) for the Earl Grey level and have read one book so far, 1Q84. I need to get going on my next long book. The first book in Game of Thrones is on my list and I'm thinking I will start that one next.

    1. They are definitely worth it! Be careful you don't get too attached to the characters because if you do, you won't be able to stop at just the first novel!

  5. I haven't made any progress at all :(

  7. I only signed up for two books, so now I am halfway there. I just finished Jaroslav Hasek's Czech classic about World War I. I have read it in English, not Czech. Parts are hilarious and are probably even funnier in the original language. I have posted several times. If you like to look at pictures, this is the one for you: http://silverseason.wordpress.com/2012/02/26/svejk-at-the-front/
