Pajama Musings - Once there was a library

Now, close your eyes and imagine the library of your dreams. First though, don't forget that you need to open your eyes again, otherwise you won't be able to read on. So ... about the library that you created in your mind. What's it look like?

Yay, totally want to have a home library like that!

You've got to be kidding me!?
I like my eReader, sure, but this *shudders* is taking it too far, wouldn't you agree?

So, spill ... what does your ideal library look like?

  1. That's something I can't really answer, since I have been dreaming about having a place for all my boxed books that it seems strange to envision it :))

  3. I love those beautifully crafted bookshelves like the first one that you can find around the internet.

But my dream library would just be a house where every available nook and cranny is devoted to bookshelves. Nothing particularly pretty, just practical things there to hold books. Not just one wall, but floor to ceiling, bookshelves in every room including the bathroom, only those would be behind glass doors.

I'm not one much for ornament or decoration. I like stuff to be practical.

Then I could perhaps have classics in my dinning room, (presuming I ever have a house big enough to have a dinning room), fantasy in my bedroom, crime up the stairway, historical in the lounge... literary in the kitchen.

I imagine everywhere in my imaginary house-library to be entirely devoted to books and reading. I'd probably be known as the mad book woman but there you go.

    1. Ohhh ... that sounds wonderful! A whole house pretty much furnished with books and more books. I love the idea of dedicating genres to certain rooms!

    1. Sounds like a plan ... especially considering how many books there are on your TBR piles (alright, I shouldn't joke with my own mountain ranges of unread books) you'll be needing floor to ceiling shelves, as do I.

  6. I want a house with a turret that is several stories tall. The turret would be filled floor to ceiling with cherry bookshelves and all the books I could ever imagine. I wouldn't need to 'rearrange' them after I go to a bookstore. Or 'weed them out' to make room for new ones. There would always be room.

Oh, and a secret door hidden in the bookcases. This is a must!

    1. May I introduce myself to you as your new house guest? I may even walk the dogs when it's raining at 5 am to stay for a little while. All I want is to have a field day of the reading kind in your turret!!
