Tea & Books Reading Challenge & Giveaway

Could this really be an update to this challenge? Finally!? Yes, you read correctly. I know I know ... actually those updates should have been posted every month, but first we had the summer slump and then I went on vacation, sooo ... bi-monthly updates it is, or rather was, as I am now set on switching back to posting monthly.

Now that we've established that I've been lazy when it comes to writing these posts, why not admit to the fact that I haven't exactly been reading much of anything for this challenge either in the past few months. Of course all hope is not lost yet. Currently I am nicely parked on the Berry Tea Devotee level (4 books) which actually is quite an achievement. Of course I signed up for the next level, Earl Grey Afficionado (6 books), but the only Earl Grey in my vicinity is hot and in a mug. You get the idea.

Maybe I work (and read, for that matter) faster under pressure? Uhm, I'm not so sure about that. Still, there's two months left, and I have a nice stack of heavy tomes just waiting to be read. Not as though I've made up my mind about which book(s) to tackle next. I've been gravitating towards some very fat chunksters by Frank Sch├Ątzing, but now I think I might read the German Edition of Duma Key by Stephen King first. Or maybe not. I just don't know.

And now *rubs hands* let's talk about that carrot I previously mentioned. Most of you might not even remember that comment from way back, but that's ok. My carrot isn't carrot-shaped anyway. It's giveaway-shaped. Now let that mental picture sink in for a moment. And then go here.

You don't have to fill out that form right now. After all there are still several weeks during which you may get some more reading done, maybe even upgrade (just kidding). I want you to look at the giveaway form and feel motivation raising its sleepy head a little. If it doesn't, give it a nudge. Then just bookmark this post, or the giveaway link, and simply return when you reached your level, or generally when you think you just can't go on much longer. After all I am not excluding anyone who did not reach their chosen level. As long as you finished at least one book you may enter the giveaway. Yep, I'm nice like that.

What else? Let's see. Anyone who's on the sign-up list for the challenge may enter the giveway. You don't need to follow my blog though, as always, it is very much appreciated if you do. And of course it's open wordwide too. Last day to enter will be January 6th. That said ... go away and read!

  1. My, a giveaway? :)) Ok then, I have some reading to do to finish the challenge :) The thing is that I love how Murakami writes (my second book in 1Q84) and I finished one tome out of three, but I keep on starting 9and finishing) shorter (waaaay shorter) books... Your challenge is a tough one, Birgit!

    1. I knew that carrot would do the trick, ha!
Joking aside, with one finished book you may already enter the giveaway, so ...

  2. Congrats on the making headway! I recently acquired a new tome, 1Q84 but have no intentions of reading it this calendar year :-D So I will stick with my completed 8 books.

    1. There is always next year and of course there will be yet another challenge, this time though with rules that are, uhm, more accommodating.

  3. Birgit, I just realized that I have read the first two tomes of Fifty Shades (coughs) and that makes a total of more than 1,000 pages so I guess I somehow finished the challenge? :)))
Anyway, I do want to finish 1Q84 this year...
