Austrian and German Book Bloggers

Welcome to the (probably) first list of Austrian and German Book Bloggers!

As some of you might know I have started compiling a list with Austrian and German book bloggers some time last year. Bit by bit, or rather blog by blog, the list has been growing and I certainly didn't feel all that alone anymore after being able to add a few Austrian book blogs to it. Of course my mission is no where near being completed. Some blogs vanish (as happened to one which was on that list - it just disappeared from the face of the Earth) while other's will be created the moment you read this, so blogs may be deleted or added to the list. Needless to say, it's easy to "overlook" blogs in the wide world of the blogosphere so if you should know of any blog(s) that need to be added to keep the list as complete and up-to-date as possible, please leave a comment!

Which blogs qualify for the list?

- Bloggers must be from Austria, Germany or Switzerland or more precisely, they should live in these countries or should be natives living in exile somewhere else on the planet. Amber from Amberkatze's Book Blog is a good example as she's originally from the UK, but now living in Vienna.
- They have to blog in the English language though it's perfectly ok if it's a bi-lingual blog with a mix of English and German posts.
- It should go without saying, but the blog should be (mostly) about books. Other topics thrown into the mix are ok too, of course.
- The blog should be active, so if the last post has been from, say, April 2013, I'm not going to add it. Generally though I will keep blogs on the list as long as they have posted within the last 12 months.

Know about any blog that should be on this list but isn't?
Please leave a comment so I might add it.

  6. Hi! I'm blogging together with a friend of mine. We're both Austrian, and while my friend primarily blogs German, I usually write in English. I'm not sure if that qualifies then for your list. Maybe you take a look: http://lemondedelivres.wordpress.com/author/phoebegilmore/

  15. Hallo Birgit,

  18. Hi there. Thank you for your list. Since I am relatively new to the active blogging world I'm really excited to find fellow countrywomen (I haven't seen a man here so far) that blog in English about books. I would of course be grateful if you add me to your list (http://bookedaway.wordpress.com). Meanwhile I will continue to stalk the other bloggers mentioned here :).

And you are quite right - no guys so far among our little group, but hopefully that may change some day soon.

  22. Hello Birgit! I've just come across your site and maybe you'd like to add my blog too.
I've been around with my book blog Edith's Miscellany since about Christmas 2012 and post regularly (though far from exclusively) about books by Austrian writers that are available in English translation. As my internet alias indicates I'm stationed in Graz - born, raised and educated here.
